Week 9 update

There is no denying how serious the situation we are in is. After initially watching people in China and a number of countries in Europe battling with the spread of the corona virus, it is now our turn. The decision to move to level 4 and all the restrictions this brings are now taking effect. This tough decision will hopefully have a positive impact on limiting person to person contact and generally stop the community spread of the virus.

I recently saw the picture attached and was pleased to see how Churches are using this time as a reminder of what we are capable of doing to support each other. We have also had wonderful examples of community spirit in Italy and Spain as housebound residents keep each other entertained. Covid 19 is a global event with universal restrictions for all humankind. Our capacity to love, support and share kindness is now being called upon like never before. We could look at things in a negative light and get an outcome that is equally depressing. What we are being given is a rare opportunity to slow down and use this time to do things that we have never made time to do. We also have an opportunity to connect with our friends and loved ones like never before. Like the drawing, church [and other social gatherings] may be banned, we are however still able to meet and chat in multiple other ways. The technology available to us allows us to still carry on with regular ‘conversations’. We have more time than ever before for this! You will all be in our prayers at this unusual time.
